I was elected to the Parliament of Canada seven times—three times as Prime Minister. I did not expect Donald Trump to be elected President of the United States. But unlike most observers, I did think it was at least possible. Why?

You know, for 27 years, I was an atheist. I thought, anyone who believed in a God or Gods was, well, stupid -- or uneducated -- naive, gullible, or just into the gig for money, sex, and power. I mean, after all, everyone knows that religion is just a psychological crutch for intellectual weaklings, right? So, what changed my mind?

Should I be kind only to those who show me kindness?

Hints: Colossians 3:12
12 Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

Our answer:
A) No, God was kind  to ever person even sinners

Answer:
The Syrian troops were sent by the king to find and capture Elisha. (2 Kings 6:13-14). Elisha did not ask God to destroy the troops that surrounded him; instead he asked God to blind them temporarily. Elisha led the blind troops back to Samaria and the King of Israel. The king asked Elisha if the men should be killed. Elisha told the king to give them food and drink and send them home to their master. The king made a great feast for them and sent them home unharmed! (2 Kings 6:18-23). Now that is an amazing example of showing kindness to your enemies! Would you agree that we should show mercy and kindness to our friends and family? Most people would agree; but our enemies – really? Yes, really! Jesus spoke about this in Luke 6:32-36: “If you love only those who love you, why should you get credit for that? Even sinners love those who love them! And if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you get credit? Even sinners do that much! And if you lend money only to those who can repay you, why should you get credit? Even sinners will lend to other sinners for a full return. “Love your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for he is kind to those who are unthankful and wicked. You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate.” This Passage doesn’t leave any doubt. We must treat our enemies with kindness. What makes us different than the world; showing kindness and mercy to those that love us? No! What makes us different is how we treat people who don't like us! This is God's way, not the world's way. We can't do it on our own. We need God’s Spirit to show His love and compassion to others! Our natural instinct is to treat them like they treated us. But, Jesus in Luke 6:31, instructs us to act differently. "Do to others as you would like them to do to you.” Is this easy? No, certainly not, but our reward from heaven will be great and we will represent the Most High God. As God's children, we must show compassion as God does; especially to our enemies. (Luke 6:35-36).

When I face difficult situations, even thought I can't see god, is he with me?

16 "Don't be afraid!" Elisha told him. "For there are more on our side than on theirs!"

Our answer:
a) Yes, he is  always by your side no matter what difficult situations you are in. Even thought you can't see him. Sometimes you fell stuck and alone remember that you are never alone.

b) Yes, God always sees what I am doing and handles in bad situations even thought I am alone

Answer:
When Elisha’s servant went outside, there were Syrian troops, horses, and chariots everywhere! He asked Elisha what they should do. Elisha told him not to be afraid; there were more on their side than the enemy had. Elisha prayed for his servant’s eyes to be able to see what he was talking about. The servant looked up and saw that the hillside was filled with horses and chariots of fire! (2 Kings 6:15-17). Have you ever been afraid and thought you were alone? We all have. What could we see if God opened our spiritual eyes like Elisha’s servant? God is always with us and He is for us! Romans 8:31 says, “What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?” As a follower of Jesus, you may find yourself pressured to do or say things that are contrary to God’s Word. It isn't easy to be outnumbered! With God, we are never alone. Like Elijah and his servant, we outnumber whomever or whatever comes against us. When the soldiers came to arrest Jesus in the garden, Peter drew his sword and cut off a man’s ear. Jesus rebuked Peter and said, “Don't you realize that I could ask my Father for thousands of angels to protect us, and he would send them instantly?” (Matthew 26:52-53) Jesus didn't submit to the guards because He was outnumbered or overpowered. He knew God was for Him and His angels were at His command. Jesus chose to give himself up to follow God's plan. Yes, God is for us! “The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?” (Psalm 118:6).

How did Daniel's life of integrity affect others?

Daniel was a man of integrity. This quality influenced people and nations. In Daniel 6:25-26, King Darius sent a message to the people of every race and nation and language throughout the world. He told them to respect and fear Daniel’s God, the living God whose kingdom will never be destroyed and who performs miracles. Daniel’s integrity had a ripple effect. In the same way, our integrity can also influence the people around us. Remember, God will enable you to live a life of integrity.

How can we learn from Daniel how to do what is right?

In Daniel 1:8, we read that, "Daniel was determined not to defile himself." We make decisions on what we believe is right. That’s why it is important to know what we believe and why we believe it. You can know what to believe by reading the Bible. The Bible says that "all Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right" (2 Timothy 3:16).

Why should we tell people about Jesus?

Answer:
Christians believe in a risen Savior. Jesus is the Son of God who rose from the dead and is alive. His burial tomb is empty. Your faith is not in a dead person or a stone idol but in a living person. He loves you and is present with you through God, the Holy Spirit. Obey Jesus and tell others that He is alive. Pass on the good news. Tell people about Him everywhere (Acts 1:8).

In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus encouraged his followers to, "[G]o and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age." This is what is referred to as the Great Commission.

Will God gave me wisdom and direction?

10 The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for wisdom.

Answer:

King David had died and now his son Solomon was on the throne. How would he handle the responsibility and the pressure of leading God’s people? Who could he go to for trusted help? Solomon did the right thing; with a humble heart he turned to God and asked for wisdom. Solomon described himself as like being a little child who didn’t know his way around. He told God that no man could do such an important job alone. He sought the Lord’s direction and discernment to know right from wrong. God gave Solomon what he asked for. He made Solomon wiser than anyone on the earth. And, God was so pleased with Solomon’s request that God gave him what he didn’t ask for; riches and fame! Solomon was also promised a long life if he obeyed God’s commands. Solomon used God’s wisdom to give judgment for a heartbreaking situation with two mothers and their babies. “When all Israel heard the king’s decision, the people were in awe of the king, for they saw the wisdom God had given him for rendering justice.” (1 Kings 3:28). Solomon asked for wisdom and God gave it to him and much more. What would you answer if God asked you the same question that He asked Solomon? Proverbs 4:7 says simply, “Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do!” Wisdom begins and ends with God. God is our endless source of knowledge and understanding for every decision in this life. All we need to do is ask. “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.” (James 1:5).

Do I need to love others?

9 Give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong. For who by himself is able to govern this great people of yours?"

Answer:

God came to Solomon in a dream and told Solomon he could have anything he wanted. Solomon did not selfishly ask for riches and fame. Solomon said, “Give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong. For who by himself is able to govern this great people of yours?” (1 Kings 3:9). Solomon’s prayer was to receive God’s help to rule God’s people. He wanted to make good decisions and judge according to God’s Word and will. Solomon loved and cared for God’s people. He cared enough to make this request above anything else he could have asked for! To truly love God, we must also love His people. There are no exceptions! 1 John 4:7-8 says, “Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” God is not just filled with love; He IS love; the source of love! Think of what these verses say - If we don’t love one another, we do not know God! This Passage makes it clear that loving God and others go hand and hand. Jesus replied, “‘you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” (Matthew 22:37-39). How important is it to love God and others? Jesus said it was the second most important commandment and just as important as the first commandment! God is love; so since we are made in His image, we were created to love too! (1 John 4:16; Genesis 1:27).
